Hwa(火) energy training
A calming touch guide for expressive dogs
Hwa(火) is the energy of rising expression. For dogs whose emotions and energy show strongly, this routine helps lower their emotional temperature with slow, gentle touch instead of forcing them to stop.

3-step calming touch routine
Slowly stroke behind the ears and neck
Use your whole palm to stroke slowly from behind the ears down to the neck. Fast hands can raise excitement, so keep each stroke at least three seconds long.
Speak in a low tone
Repeat your dog's name or a short word in a lower, slower voice than usual. High, quick tones can stimulate Hwa energy, so lowering your voice is the key.
Quiet time after excitement
After play or a walk, avoid jumping straight into the next activity. Sit together quietly for five minutes so their energy has room to settle naturally.
Before training
- Is your dog comfortable being touched right now?
- Is the massage space quiet with few distractions?
- Have you checked for recent injuries or painful areas?
If intense arousal includes aggression such as showing teeth or growling, do not touch directly. Keep distance and use your voice only. If unusual over-arousal repeats, consult a veterinarian.
